Code of Conduct for Menagerie Choir Community
1. RESPECT
Menagerie Choir community members* show respect at all times. Everyone has a right to learn, perform and socialise in an environment free from all forms of harassment and discrimination.
Respect for people means behaving politely in the spirit of goodwill and cooperation with consideration for others, and also includes:-

2. PRIVACY AND CONFIDENTIALITY
Menagerie Choir will maintain privacy and confidentiality concerning records, documentation and any other communication containing personal information, unless consent is otherwise provided.
3. RECOGNITION OF LEADERSHIP
The Zookeeper, and select members of the control panel if directed by the Zookeeper, have the authority to instruct a member of the choir not to attend their session indefinitely with immediate effect if they are not abiding by the Code of Conduct. The choir member may discuss any decision with the Control Panel but this does not necessarily mean a decision will be changed.
4. RECOGNISE THE VALUE OF EVERY MEMBER
Even within a specifically indie choir, there is opportunity for ideas, concerns and views to be shared with the Zookeeper/Control Panel. Everyone has a voice and will be heard. The value of every member as a singer, as well as community and artistic contributor must be respected.
* 'Menagerie Choir community members' includes all people who attend rehearsals, and all people who provide creative or administrative support to Menagerie.

1. RESPECT
Menagerie Choir community members* show respect at all times. Everyone has a right to learn, perform and socialise in an environment free from all forms of harassment and discrimination.
Respect for people means behaving politely in the spirit of goodwill and cooperation with consideration for others, and also includes:-
- Respectful communication - no use of offensive language or suggestions, including through swearing or gestures.
- Respectful behaviour towards:-
- Menagerie’s Zookeeper, and in their place sectional or guest leaders
- People within the wider Menagerie community, including event and venue staff
- Other venue users and other people in public spaces where we conduct our activities.
- Freedom from harassment. Menagerie is an indie choir and our members reflect this. We have zero tolerance towards any form of harassment or abuse (verbal, physical, emotional, or sexual). This includes offensive verbal comments (related to gender identity, age, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, or religion), display of sexual images in public spaces, deliberate intimidation, stalking, following, harassing communication, unwanted or unapproved photography or recording, sustained disruption of rehearsals or events, unwanted physical contact, and unwelcome attention.
Respect for property involves:-
- Abiding by venue rules which may include food and drink, security and safety procedures, noise and alcohol use.
- No deliberate damage, theft or misuse of property regardless of ownership.
